Tasty grilled fish

Usually, we'll have dinner out after my dad finishes his work. We'll have simple dinner nearby our home. There was this once when we decided on having fried noodles. We ended up in a restaurant named Tin Hiong Lau (in Inanam, near to Inanam Pharmacy). There's this stall that cooks 'Ikan Panggang', also known as grilled fish. Grilled fish in Malaysia are normally prepared by first seasoning/marinating the fish with spices/chillies/chilli paste etc. and then grilled on top of a banana leaf till it's cooked. My dad had grilled fish in this particular stall before and said it's delicious. So, we ordered a medium sized stingray slice. To my surprise, it's one of the most delicious Ikan Panggang I had before. Although visible red chillies are seen on top of the fish, it's not that spicy. It's slightly sweet and the fried onions gives the fish a bit more ummpph to the taste. However, it's slightly oily. Otherwise, it's definitely two thumbs up for this stall's fish!

Part of the grilled fish. Can't wait to try this fish out even before I remember to take a shot of it.

Served with lime and onions topping.

Chilli that taste would taste well with pan mee :p

Hello from BORNEO!

It's been quite a while since I post. Finally I get to come online as I was away for Kuching a few days. It has been a tiring journey, KL-KK(BKI)-Kuching-KK. Fortunately, the journey wasn't all that bad. Enjoyed the food in Kuching. The food was cheap and nice. Anyway, today, I would like to talk about one of my favourite food in KK.

It's none other than SEAFOOD but in porridge (or rather congee but locals mostly use porridge). This restaurant (I'll update on the name of the restaurant ASAP) cooks good congee. The texture is smooth and most importantly for me is, it doesn't taste too strong of ginger. Besides seafood, chicken, pork and beef are also available.

Claypot fish congee

Slices of fish

Claypot pork congee

The good thing about serving congees in claypot is that the congee remains hot in the claypot for a longer period of time compare to ordinary bowl which retain the heat and congee's texture and taste. The claypot congee ranges from Rm6.50-Rm10.00 per person. Besides congee, this restaurant does serve Yong Tau Fu, noodles and some common dishes I yet to try.

Overall, I prefer the fish congee. The slices of fish are fresh and given in a generous portion. I normally add in a little bit of Sabah chilli padi to enhance the taste. Hmm... I think crab congee would be nice and sweet. I'll give it a try someday. Ciao for now!

Land Below The Wind.. Here I come!

I've been very busy these few days. I've been busy packing my stuff back to my hometown. I've been busy preparing all the pets to be put at Dave's place. I've been busy transferring cars to Dave's place. I've been busy thinking of what I've missed packing and so on.

Tomorrow, at this hour, I should have arrived back home. I'll be seeing my dad and youngest sis. I miss them. However, leaving back home, I'll be missing my dear Dave here :(. I'll miss my friends here as well. Sonia, I'm sorry that I couldn't arrange a free time to bring you out as I'm stuck with errands.

This coming trip back home will be a bit different. Tomorrow, I'll touch down in the land below the wind. The day after tomorrow, I'll be in the land of meow~~ meow~~; Kuching!! I've never been there for quite some time. I'll update my trip from time to time. As for now, I must ciao~~

Soothing & Comforting voice!

I always love to hear the voices of Nigella Lawson and Neil Buchanan. Those who love to watch food channels and cookery programmes will know who Nigella Lawson is (e.g. Nigella bites, Nigella feasts & Nigella express). She has this special ways of cooking food and in my opinion, her food are very sweet; which means high in calories. However, I'm more attracted to the way she speaks. Similarly, Neil Buchanan has a way of speaking which I'm also attracted to. Neil Buchanan is the creator and presenter of Art Attack (in Nickelodeon channel/Astro). He guides his viewer step-by-step on his work of art.

I am not sure about anyone out there who has the same feeling I have for voices. I know my siblings doesn't. Whenever Nigella/Neil speaks, I have this tingling and ticklish sensation inside my ear which gives me a very soothing and yet comforting feeling. This can really make me sleep. When I was younger, my sister would always turn the channel to Art Attack as if to hypnotize me and would slowly take over the remote control. :) Currently, I'm quite addicted to the cookery programme. I always watch Nigella (Astro: channel 707) as well as Chef At Home (Astro: channel 703/AFC). Besides gaining knowledge on food preparation, I have this relaxing therapies *lol*.

Here's a clip of Nigella preparing crepes suzette:

Nigella is not only beautiful but she has this mesmerizing set of eyes and voice of course. She cooks food that are easy to prepare. Most of all, the method she presents are not too difficult to understand and not too time consuming as well.

Finally... My burden is lifted!

I was resting while I received a SMS. Feeling dizzy I walked slowly towards my handphone which was charging in my room (I was in my living room). Then, I check to see who has texted me. Instead, I saw a weird number. I scrolled down and realised the SMS is from my uni. Hahaha, to my surprise, my results were out and all are well!!! At least, good enough to graduate.

Yeah! I can say that I'm officially graduating!! So happy. I feel so light, now that my burden has been lifted. However, that's not the only burden I have. Still have more to face in the future. I hope that all will pass the exams with flying colours and especially to my dear friends. :)

I'm so tired, I want to rest a while before eating my newly bought instant noodles which I've been searching for quite some time. Will post up on that after my rest! Ciao buddies!

So many to count down

Firstly, my final's result will be out pretty soon. The results will determine my graduation.
Wish me luck!!

Secondly, I'm going back to my hometown, the land below the wind. I'll be seeing my sister and dad of course but I'll miss Dave and my friends here. However, I won't be back too long. :)

After my visit to my hometown, I'll be looking for jobs which will be my very first official job.

Hopefully everything goes well and so does to my friends who are currently waiting for their results. Good luck everyone!

I was searching for some bowling informations on my sis's upcoming bowling competition and here I came across some of the bowling history, hehe..one of my happy moments. However, those were the good old days. The full results can be obtained here.

Sadly, my name was not correctly spelled. Instead of Vivian, they changed my name to Vivien. It's a long story but the participation in this competition was a last minute decision. I was asked to join by the state team manager right after playing for MSSM (which I managed a bronze). Maybe that was why my name was not correctly spelled.*Shakes head* I started bowling quite late and most competitions have age limits which refrained me from participating. I did enjoy bowling anyways. Probably I'll talk about how I started bowling and how I began participating bowling competitions some other day. :)

Here are some of the old pictures I found too.

Cute and Cool!

Guess where I went last night? I went to Mill Wheel (Kepong)last night. It is a cafe where they sell flavoured shave ice. Well, I know this place from food blogs and it's a very nice place to be. They have very nice shave ice of course, puddings, drinks and some tit-bits. Besides that, they also sell little cute souvenirs which can never fail to attract me. *giggles*

Mill Wheel

Their shave ice comes in different flavours and my favourite flavours so far(which are also the few I've tried) are mango and watermelon. The Mango shave ice has a very nice strong aroma to it and it taste very very nice, just like real mango. Each scoop, each sip into the mouth and onto the tongue can be very soothing, especially when the ice melts, releasing the flavours where your taste buds can detect them. *Lol* Exaggeration? No, I'm seriously telling you that it's really nice, at least I love it. How can anybody resist something cool in such a warm country? Most importantly, it's not as sweet as those CENDOL selling out there. Ok, I do admit it's still sweet but not way too sweet if you get what I mean.

Sadly, I forget to take a picture of their menu, so I'm not so sure what they really have. So far, I've tried a few different shave ice. Here are the pictures:

Blue Tank - Mango (upper layer) and Watermelon (lower layer)
The puddings are in between the two flavours which give the drink a better texture when sipping.

Dave enjoying his blue tank

Ice Tank - Lychee (upper layer) and Strawberry (lower layer)
In between the two flavours, there are puddings and strawberry puree.

My Ice Tank - Look at the colourful toppings.

Sausages - with mixed vegetable, ketchup and mayonnaise
It's something everybody can do ;)

I'll definitely come back again to try out their other shave ice flavours and drinks. On top of the delicious drinks they offered here, the prices are reasonable and affordable too. Talking about food really makes me hungry. I better get something before my stomach growls again.

I love Hummer

I love cars but I'm not those knowledgeable or 'filled-with-complete-car-informations-and-details' sort of car lover. I just see a car from its outer view. Engine wise...hmm, 0 knowledge Lol. Personally, I prefer off-road vehicles because they look huge and safe compared to a tiny car I'm driving currently. Besides that, past experience of driving off-road vehicles are way cooler and of course better and easier *wink*. Everybody on the road seems to 'bully' or take advantage of my tiny little car. Nevertheless, I still love my cute little car as it is able to bring me to places I want to, at least. *Lol*

Last night, I happened to be in The Curve and I saw 2 Hummers on display together with a few other Honda models in between the empty space of The Curve and Cineleisure. My heart was excited seeing the hummers and I managed to take only a few photos of it.

Me with the red H3 Hummer

Me and Dave

I did some searching on the net and only now I know Hummer has 3 versions which are H1, H2 and H3. The above hummer is the H3 version. H1 version is a high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV) which explains its versatility on the road or maybe even in the water? military use? Anyway, H2 has the SUV (sport utility vehicle) and SUT (sport utility truck) type where as H3 is slightly smaller than both H1 and H2.

Few years back, while I was in Hartamas, I spotted this black HUGE vehicle parking at the road side. It filled up the whole parking space or probably more. I was attracted to it like bees to the honey. I rounded the car several times trying to peep into the interior. However, the glass was fully tinted and the height of the car refrained me from knowing how the interior is like. (yeah, I'm a shorty :P) It was then, I know the existence of HUMMER (ya ya, I'm like a katak di bawah tempurung, but definitely people in my hometown doesn't live on trees I assure you). It was in sleek black, the rims were great and shiny. I fell in love with the car immediately. It was the H2 SUV version I saw back then. OMG, i still remember the car number but I'm not sure if I can state it here.

Enough of cars for now, since I was at The Ikano last night, I bought another shirt for Kaka, here's the pic.

Kaka & her new shirt

Do you know what is this?

I got this last year and I put it in the car dashboard to dry. It has cotton (at least material like cottons) in this cocoon shape seed. Anyway, Dave pluck this seed for me last year around Melawati area.

I always thought cottons only look like this:

Cotton Plant (source from the internet)

Guess what? This looks like the tree I got my see from:

Cotton tree
I saw this type of trees aplenty in Langkawi too. If anyone knows what species of plant is this, do let me know. :)

To go or not to go?!

The question refers to whether or not I should go out. Well, shopping of course! Probably window shopping should be more precise since I'm not fully loaded :( sad case. Then the next question comes on where should I go? ZZZzzzzzz..... and now, at this minute, I'm wondering, why should I go? OMG!

I'm so bored now with nothing to do, no assignments or reports. This reminds me of Mel, who said I NEVER ONCE PLAN for an outing. Come to think about it, Yes! She's right. I never plan for an outing before. Even my bro. did for his friends before. Damn.. what's wrong with me? Indecisive? Irresolute? I'm not sure myself. Again, I will of course bring my mind back to the past; the environment where I was brought up to be who I am now. Nah, don't think that's the main factor. Probably my indecisive characteristic was due to past experiences? Maybe.. Yeah!! Let's elaborate on this point. Ngek ngek ngek...

Well, I know going out with people like me being so undecided and no opinion or whatsoever could be irritating. So, I would like to take this opportunity to APOLOGISE to all whom have encounter such feelings while going out with me; Sincerely sorry. *Peace* It's just me and I'll try my best to change *wink* Anyway, back to the point. Firstly, I'm afraid of hurting people's feelings or offending them I guess, not especially if they are my friends. I do sometimes (very few occasions) have opinions and ideas on where to go or what to do but it's just that questions like the following will appear on my mind right after generating ideas/opinions. What if he/she wants to go somewhere else? Does he/she likes going to that place? Does he/she wants to do what I've thought of? These few questions are enough to refrain me from giving out my opinion and ideas.

Secondly, sometimes I really have no idea/opinion at all. I can really go anywhere and do anything. Mel will always pump me with ideas and asking me to choose, this will bring me back to the first point. Sometimes, she will question me on what I prefer to do or where I prefer to go and this will bring me to my second point. Back to square one. *Sigh* So frequent that my friends/family and I have to stand in one corner in the mall to decide on where to go and what to eat; forcing each other to choose. Actually, I'm fine with any decisions.

Back to the question (title) again, should I go out? Probably not. Since I've found something I can watch on the internet. :)
Benefit(s) from not going out:
1) Save money
Once I go out, I'll definitely have to spend on the Fs which are fuel, food, fashion, favourites
2) Save from mishaps maybe
3) Have proper rest since my back hasn't fully recover yet

However, whenever I have to go out, I open my closet, it's so dull, boring, ordinary and old. I need to buy something at least to update my closet. *sigh* Probably I'm procrastinate a lil', okay okay maybe a lot. Maybe I'm just being lazy. Could it be that I'm having decidophobia? I'm not sure myself. How? To go or not to go?

Busy days~

I've been wanting so much to blog but my connection doesn't permit me to do so. Anyway, since now that I can, I better blog about what I've gone through these two days.

Yesterday, I went out with my bro. to the post office intending to collect the fuel rebate for my car which was under my sister's name who is now in Saudi. So, I have to collect on her behalf. Since the rebate collection requires the owner's identification card I thought the older version could be used. I've called up the authority to confirm it as well. The funny thing happened was, I've been such a fool. Let me tell you this story. Firstly, I went to SS15's post office but there wasn't a single parking and not a single space which I can place my car or double-park. Then, we went home made ourselves bread for breakfast since I was as hungry as a cow. I suggested bowling since we're heading down to pyramid's post office. Off we went to Pyramid, got a parking and then bowled.

Bowling wasn't all that well but at least we exercised abit. Then, we headed straight to where we're supposed to go, the post office. I got my queue number which was to wait another 45 people. I suggested that we stroll around to kill time and at the same time, look for a shop that provides photocopy service. When we got back to the post office, I noticed that I've missed the queue. Feeling stupid, I took another number and this time, we have to wait for another about 60 more before our turn. So, we head to Sakae for late lunch which took us about 40 minutes. We headed back to the post office and I can't believe my eyes, I missed the queue AGAIN!!. This time, I took another number which was only about 20 + ahead. So, I waited right in front of the post office making sure that I wouldn't miss the queue AGAIN! Feeling frustrated but at least I THOUGHT I managed to hand in the forms and documents needed.

This morning, I was awaken by a call from an unknown number. I picked up and it was from the post office. This guy told me (in a nice tone) that he couldn't process my form because the identification card I provided wasn't the MyKad version. WTF!!!!!!! What can I say? I tried to give the man some explanations; that I couldn't get hold of my sis's MyKad as she's now oversea. Obviously, he couldn't help me as he insisted on MyKad. Damn, I've called to confirm before I went to the post office and that lady said as long as it's her identification it will do. So, what I've gone through yesterday was truely fully definitely confirm USELESS!! Damn!!!!!

Another bad thing was, my sis's car broke down yesterday but the weird thing is, the car seems to be alright today as I started it. Long story short, I went to IKEA today with my bro. and Mel. I guess we spent about 6 - 7 hours there. All I can remember was we eat and eat and eat. Pity Mel that she has waited for me to go out with her since her return from Langkawi.

We had Sakae for lunch (again for me and my bro.) and then, we each bought ourselves chips. Mel was contemplating on which brand of chips to buy as she admits being fussy on the taste and texture. Me and my bro. got the same brand of chips except different flavour. We finally convinced Mel in taking the same brand of another flavour. I got myself "Sour Cream & Onion", my bro. got "Hot & Spicy" and Mel got "original". My bro. and I shared half of our chips with each other so we could eat two flavours at the same time. Here's the picture of the wrappings left after "the sharing".

Chipster, my current fav.
As you can see the crumpled packing has already been opened and shared.

Mel, how was your "original" flavoured chips? Is it to your liking? Haha, we had fun eating though. At least when we were walking in the mall, I can see Mel's eating the chips though she commented the chips were too thinly sliced and not crispy enough but the flavouring was nice. I personally prefer the "Sour cream & Onion". Mel, do update me with the "original" flavoured Chipster.

After that, we went Ikea for some snacks. We had "fish & chips" and fried chicken wings. I must say, their chicken wings was delicious, not too stingy on the size and flavouring. Most importantly, the wings weren't dry. The "fish & chips" was nice too. Mel said the cream was delicious.

Fish & Chips together with its generous amount of cream

Juicy fried chicken wings
It doesn't look as great as it taste. I observed that almost every table ordered this dish. I would say delicious to its bone *wink*

I also got my pet a piece of shirt to wear so that when I bring her for her usual strolls, she will not get dirty. I got it for a very cheap price and thanks Mel for helping me search for the size and patterns. Since she can fit in the shirt nicely, I'll certainly go back for more ^^.

My pet being camera-shy with her brand new *ordinary* shirt.
(Pardon me for being a lousy & lazy pet groomer. I know she looks awful here. :) Wait till I get a job so that I can bring her for proper grooming sessions. )

Me & Mel
At least this picture is dark, my awkwardness and stiffness can't be really noticed *I hope*

We were experimenting on the angles and expression on our faces. Sadly, I was said to be very stiff. I do admit that I'm not photogenic and I don't take good pictures. I will continue to learn and practice more often.
